Lunch Time

Ever wonder what to eat at lunch time? If you are working, you have to take your lunch outside. If you have been working at a place for more than 3 years, you will find it very boring to take lunch. Same food everyday. Even for those who are lucky enough to work in at a place full of eateries, you will get sien sooner or later. For those who work at places away from eateries, the situation is even worse. However, we have to eat to replenquish our energy to continue our work for the rest of the day. Some resorted to skipping lunch on and off depending on mood. Well for me, I can't! I can only skip lunch if I have a heavy breakfast which I seldom experienced. For my lunch time, I usually frequent a coffee shop known as Lucky Restaurant. Over there, there is the ready made home cooked meal with a variety of dishes to go with the rice. No fancy dishes, mostly common dishes you will find at a Chinese home. It is fairly reasonable with prices ranging from RM2.60 to RM5/- depending on the type of dishes you have ordered with the plate of rice. If you are early for lunch, you can get a bowl of soup for free. The other choice is ordering on the spot type of food like, fried rice, koay teow soup with fish balls, "kung poh" chicken rice, "wat tan hor", etc. These type of food are more expensive as they are specially prepared for you on your request.
As for me yesterday, I have a different type of food for lunch. Went to a property exhibition at Stadium Indera Mulia to check out the new houses in the market. Had lunch at a stall near Stadium Perak. Had Banana leaf Curry for lunch! Yeah! Picked masala chicken! Very tasty. One of the best banana leaf curry in Ipoh town. The curry is excellent! But it is quite warm eating there. No air-con le! It was a bit crowded when we reached that stall. So many customers until we have to do some self service like helping ourselves to the vegetables there and pouring the delicious curry on to our rice. Iced chinese tea is served free of charge here. We had hot teh tarik with little sugar after that. Was a satisfying lunch for me. Was sweating due to the heat there and the effect of the tasty curry. Most people in Ipoh knows about this banana leaf stall. The cost is about RM6/- per person nowadays. If you ever come to Ipoh, try it out! You'll love it! :)

Stardate 2008-5-15

Taking the public transportation is enriching. If you have not taken the bus for a long time, give it a try. Maybe not on working day as you might be late for work due to our bus service excellent timing! Give a try on the weekend when you don't have to clock in at work. Be a bit observant when you are on the bus. Look a round and you will bound to discover some amuzing events or disgusting things.
On my way to the office this morning riding on a bus, I noticed that the bus had a face-lift! The seats railings and the sides have been given a new coat of paint. Much better condition now although still no aircon. Even the floorboard of the bus had a new coat of paint. However, the bus driver and his sidekick ie the ticket man is still very much the same. The driver drives like a F1 driver and the ticket is a grumpy old man. If you do not give him the exact change, he will mumble this and that. I think all ticket man are the same. :)
As all sorts of people take the bus, you will be able to observe many human behaviour. Example, I observed 2 aunties(Ah Sum) sitting in front of me chatting away non-stop. Since their voice are quite high I was able to listen to every word they are saying. Want to know what they are chatting about? They are talking about the antics of our MP at the parliment! Wow! When do you hear "ah sum" talk about this. Nowadays, ah sum also very smart already. Don't play play! They said that our MPs(Members of Parliment, in case you do not know wht is MP) behaved like kids at the parlimentary session, calling names at each other instead of replying to question fielded to them! I tottally agreed with them.
On the other side of the bus, a young chap was busy digging gold! Digging gold from his nose! Earrghhh.....! So disgusting! Openly pricking his nose in front of everyone. No wonder nobody dares to sit with him. He might just accidentally drop his gold on you! Hehehe!
At eleven o'clock where I was seated is a punk! Why I called him a punk is that he smoked while he was the bus. Told him drop the cigarette as it is against the law to smoke in a bus. He just took a look at me and gave me the dirty look. Really wanted to smack him in the face. Fortunately for him, the ticket man quickly asked that punk to stop smoking which he reluctantly did so. Real useless bugger!
Hmmm..........at 7 o'clock from my seat, a pretty girl was chatting away on her handphone. Probably chatting to her boyfriend from the expression shown on her face. She was smiling while chatting away. Must have been those sweet sweet words from her honey! Aiyah! She calls the person on the phone honey! Wow! In broad day light and in a bus! So daring the girls are nowadays! No more shy shy one le. I bet she must have a lot of guys going after her! Well, I would also go after her if I am 20 years younger! :)
Right at the back of my seat is a lady in her forties busily munching away her breakfast! She must be in a hurry. Normally it is not easy to eat on the bus especially with so many eyes watching you. Well, eating bread is ok but eating fried koay teow from a plastic food bag is no easy task. But for this lady, she did it with flying colors!
Ok, that's all for the morning ride. You would not be able to see all these when you drive to work, right? :)
